Construction crews working on the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Project 13B are scheduled to begin connecting a new water main to existing lines along Main Street starting today.
Work in the Main Street and Comanche Avenue area will begin with crews extending the new main westward and installing a valve near the centerline. The southbound lane will be resurfaced to allow traffic, followed by preparations to cross to the east side of the roadway.
To reduce disruptions for nearby residents and businesses, the water main tie-in at the intersection will take place overnight. Once complete, the area will be backfilled.
Later in the week, another connection is planned on the south side of the Canal. This work will link a 10-inch main to the new line, with road and meter area restoration scheduled from Wyandotte Avenue to Comanche Avenue.
As each section is completed, crews will continue north on Main Street, making final connections at each intersection between Comanche and Monroe.
