The City of McAlester will begin work today, Monday, May 12, on a major water infrastructure project that will necessitate multiple overnight road closures and may result in intermittent water service disruptions.
The work is part of the city’s Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Project 13B. Crews will complete several waterline tie-ins and conduct line testing overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to minimize impacts on residents and businesses.
The project schedule is as follows:
-
Monday, May 12: Comanche Avenue to Wyandotte Avenue, from Main Street to Second Street
-
Tuesday, May 13: Main Street from Cherokee Avenue to Chickasaw Avenue
-
Wednesday, May 14: Main Street from the railroad crossing to Choctaw Avenue
-
Thursday, May 15: Main Street from Choctaw Avenue to Carl Albert Parkway
-
Monday, May 19: Main Street from Madison Avenue to Monroe Avenue
Residents and motorists should expect temporary water outages or reduced pressure during work hours. Road closures and detours will be in place around active construction zones.
City officials encourage the public to plan ahead and monitor updates on McAlester’s official website and social media platforms.
