Mayor Justin Few joined KNED this Thursday morning to talk about the storms that ripped through Pittsburg County earlier this week on Monday, May 19th. Few touched on a few topics in terms of the cleanup and how the community has come together in response to help those affected by the tornado.
Here is Few talking how being weather aware and having a plan can be the difference in staying safe and finding yourself in a scary situation.
Pittsburg County Emergency Management also completed initial structural damage assessments across the areas impacted by Monday night’s tornado. While crews have finished field assessments, the data is still being compiled and reviewed to determine final damage numbers. Preliminary data shows 74 structures assessed and at least 10 received major damage, and as previously reported, no casualties.
Resources are still being used in storm recovery, as the county continues to assess the entire situation and help those who need it within the county. Mayor Few shares what you can do if you are interested in helping or donating during this process.
