Registered Sex Offender Arrested at McAlester Pool

A Canadian man, who is a registered sex offender, was arrested Sunday after police say he was found leaving a public pool area in McAlester where children were present.

An officer responded around 1 p.m. on June 8 to the 400 block of East Chadick Ave. following a complaint related to an earlier call for service. Upon arrival, the officer observed two individuals exiting the gated pool area and approached them near a nearby splash pad, where children were playing.

The male identified himself as Bobby Campbell Jr., 52. A warrant check revealed that Campbell is a registered sex offender. He was placed in wrist restraints and taken into custody. The other party with Campbell, confirmed the two had been at the park earlier that day.

Campbell was transported to the Pittsburg County Jail, where he faces new district charges. At the time of the arrest, he was registered as a sex offender as of April 28, 2025.

According to court records, Campbell has multiple prior felony convictions. Most recently, on April 24, 2025, he was convicted in Pittsburg County District Court of failing to register as a sex offender and was sentenced to 10 years suspended.

Campbell was given a $75,000 bond, according to online court documents, and his next court date is July 3rd.
